Types of Pattern Matches
Random Match
Patterns that do not have a specific match point. Examples of this would be "Stipples" (Sandpiper, Sandstone) or stripe patterns. Most of these patterns look better when every other strip is reversed, alternating top and bottom as shown in the diagram.
Drop Match
There are two types. When you have a "Half-drop" match the design runs diagonally, it takes three strips to repeat the vertical design as shown in the diagram. Every other strip is the same at the ceiling line. With a "Multiple drop match" it takes four or more strips before the vertical design is repeated.
Straight Across Match
This is when the design matches on each strip. The design is exactly the same at the ceiling line.
